Watchmen is an awesome movie adaptation that follows closely the graphic novel of the same name released in the 80s. I started reading the book this week in anticipation and made it about 2/3 of the way through. It takes places in an alternate 1985 where Richard Nixon has been elected president five times and Watergate never happened. The USA and USSR are on the brink of nuclear war. Our 'super-heroes' are but ordinary people dressing up to fight crime and all save one actually have any actual super powers. I think Zack Snyder did a respectable job bringing Watchmen to the big screen and making it accessible to people that have never read the novel. Some parts of the story were changed or omitted, but the film still reached the same conclusion as the novel.
If you like super-hero movies, you should see this.

Wow, this sounds great! Did you see it at a theater? I see your review is dated on the same day it opened in theaters. I should read the book and then watch the movie too.
